The area: Global Public Policy
The Global Public Policy Team is a close-knit group that develops,
advises on and advocates in favor of public policy positions for
the benefit of Google, its users and the Internet as a whole. We

with government officials, policymakers, non-governmental
organizations, academics, trade groups and others - to shape
legislation, influence dialogue, and build a network of friends and
supporters. Within the company, we work closely with the Corporate
Communications and Product teams as well as with our Legal team
colleagues.
The role: Russia Policy Counsel - Moscow
The Policy Counsel will work to advocate Google's public policy
positions before policymakers in Russia to advance the goals and
values of the company. Key issues will include privacy and data
protection, content regulation, intellectual property (including
copyright, patent, and trademark), communications policy, and the
regulation of Internet networks and technologies. In addition, the
Policy Counsel will represent Google to local industry
associations. As part of a closely coordinated global team, the
Policy Counsel will lead initiatives of central importance to
Google's mission.
Responsibilities:
- Advocate and lobby before the national government and
parliament on behalf of Google and the interests of a free and open
Internet.
- Monitor and analyse pressing issues; craft integrated policy
positions for presentation to Google's policy and management
teams.
- Work with trade associations, industry partners, non-profit
groups, and other allies to promote and build support for Google's
policy positions.
- Communicate policy positions to key constituencies nationally
and worldwide, including Google users; Google partners and
customers; National government officials and agencies; policy
advocates and the legal community; journalists, experts and opinion
leaders; industry organisations; and other relevant
stakeholders.
- In general, advance Google's mission, defend its values, and
create new opportunities to make the world a better place.
Requirements:
- Excellent academic credentials, such as a law degree from an
internationally-ranked university. Google is also willing to
consider outstanding public policy professionals who are not
lawyers.
- Direct experience working with or in the various branches,
agencies, and institutions of the national government or
parliament.
- First-rate personal, political, analytical, communications and
government relations skills.
- Ability to integrate public policy with business strategy and
corporate development
- Familiarity with Internet technologies and related policy
environments.
- Demonstrable leadership skills and ability to collaborate with
energy, motivation, determination, and a passion for Google and the
Internet.
- A sense of humour and commitment to professionalism and
collegiality are required.
