Product Marketing Manager - System Center and Virtualization

Workgroup purpose

The Core Infrastructure Marketing team is a part of the Server&Tools Business Group and is responsible for Core Infrastructure business. This includes Windows Server family, System Center family and Security Products revenue. The team works close with segments to ensure revenue targets are met and to support sales efforts with marketing. The focus of the workgroup is to manage and drive the end-to-end business associated with the performance of the Business Group’s products, technologies, audiences, and initiatives. The workgroup is accountable for driving growth, revenue and scorecard (SC) targets within the Business Marketing Organization (BMO) and with the segments for each of the Business Group’s products, technologies, audiences, and initiatives. The workgroup is accountable for monitoring the progress against goals (financial and non-financial) and budgets, and taking corrective action if/when the situation requires. The workgroup owns regular communications and reporting to the Area/Corporate.

Why does the role exist?
To ensure the execution, monitoring and reporting of a subset of the Business Group’s products or programs in the Subsidiary.

How does the role add value?
The System Center and Virtualization Product Marketing Manager (SC PMM) is accountable for the subsidiary revenue and market share for System Center and Virtualization (Hyper-V) in the Subsidiary. The SC PMM understands, coordinates, and makes trade-offs across elements including marketing, special sales, technical sales, partners and services. In addition, the SC PMM directs and leads product-specific customer campaigns and marketing activities, handles customer escalations; and delivers product and customer campaigns feedback to Corporate.  This person is recognized internally and externally as a product marketing expert within his/her sub-industry.

How is role unique from other roles?
This is the primary role accountable for a subset of the Business Group’s products, programs and/or technologies.

What are key initiatives and challenges facing this role over the next six months to three years?

  • Messaging competitive differentiators to a wide variety of audiences and sub-audiences.
  • Being internal and external evangelists for product value proposition and in product launches

Qualifications and Competencies:

  • More than 5 years of IT experience and overall understanding of key technologies and concepts
  • Dynamic senior person with leadership skills (impact and influence)
  • Structured, consistent
  • Think and speak clearly and in a structured way
  • Self-management required: disciplined, well-organized, time-management skills,
  • Sound marketing experience (conducted successful marketing projects,  or/and worked with customers or partners on establishing marketing programs)
  • Strong ability of cross group collaboration, ability to build strong relationships and work in a virtual team environment
  • Excellent  written Russian
  • Higher technical and business education is preferred
