The Borehole Production / Well Integrity Engineer is a crucial technical role, providing high-level support for wireline and Logging-While-Drilling (LWD) activities focused on production and well integrity surveillance. This role is essential for ensuring the quality, analysis, and interpretation of downhole data to diagnose well performance issues, monitor artificial lift effectiveness, and assess the mechanical integrity of the wellbore and barriers.
The engineer will be the technical expert in the analysis of specialized services, including Production Logging Tool (PLT) data, noise/leak detection surveys, cement evaluation logs (CET/USIT/Ultrasonic), and casing inspection tools (Multi-Finger Caliper/Electromagnetic). This position is vital for extending the operational life and maximizing the production of our clients' assets.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Well Production & Performance Data Analysis
- Production Log Interpretation (PLT/P-LWD): Analyze and interpret multi-phase flow data (e.g., fluid identification, phase velocity, holdup, and flow rate) from both wireline and LWD production logging tools to determine contribution profiles and diagnose downhole issues (e.g., cross-flow, channeling).
- Flow & Leak Diagnosis: Interpret temperature, noise/acoustic, and radioactive tracer surveys to identify and locate fluid leaks, inter-zonal cross-flow, and mechanical failures affecting production or injection.
- Artificial Lift Performance: Evaluate data to monitor and optimize the performance of Artificial Lift systems (e.g., ESP, Gas Lift) and recommend appropriate adjustments or interventions.
2. Well Integrity & Barrier Evaluation
- Cement Evaluation: Provide expert analysis and interpretation of Cement Bond Logs (CBL/VDL) and Ultrasonic Imaging Tools (USIT/PET) to assess primary cement integrity, locate poor bonds, and recommend remedial actions.
- Casing & Tubing Inspection: Process and interpret data from Multi-Finger Caliper (MFC), Electromagnetic (EMI) tools, and other corrosion/thickness surveys to evaluate casing wear, metal loss, and mechanical damage, ensuring the long-term integrity of the well barrier.
3. Operational Support & Quality Control
- Job Planning & QC: Work closely with field teams to define logging programs, provide pre-job technical support, and perform real-time Quality Control (QC) on acquired wireline and LWD data to ensure logging objectives are met.
- Integrated Diagnosis: Integrate production and integrity logging results with other well data (e.g., well history, pressure data, petrophysics) to provide a holistic and actionable diagnosis of the well condition.
4. Documentation
- Generate clear, comprehensive technical reports, analysis summaries, and final presentations for client delivery, clearly articulating the well's production profile and integrity status.
Qualifications and Experience:
-
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Petroleum Engineering, Production Engineering, or a closely related technical field.
-
Minimum of 2-5 years of experience in a Production, Well Integrity, or Petrophysical role, preferably with a focus on log data interpretation.
-
Demonstrated practical experience and strong analytical skills in the interpretation of Production Logging Tools (PLT) and Cement Evaluation Logs (CBL/USIT).
-
Proficiency in industry-standard well performance and logging data processing software (e.g., Techlog, WellCAD, Emeraude software).
-
Excellent communication and presentation skills with the ability to convey complex technical findings to diverse audiences (field staff, management, clients).
-
Knowledge of downhole flow dynamics, well construction, and common well failure modes is highly desirable.
