CST is seeking a creative and dynamic Traditional and Digital Art Teacher to inspire students through a blend of classic artistic techniques and modern digital media. This role is ideal for an educator who is passionate about visual arts, innovation, and helping young artists express themselves in meaningful ways.
About the Role
The Art Teacher will deliver high-quality instruction within CST’s international learning environment. Classes are taught in English and follow CST’s Canadian-aligned curriculum (Grades 1–9) and the Nova Scotia Public School Program (Grades 10–12). The ideal candidate brings strong artistic skills, digital media fluency, and a commitment to student growth and creativity.
Key Responsibilities
Art Instruction (Traditional & Digital)

Design and deliver engaging lessons in drawing, painting, sculpture, and mixed media.

Teach digital illustration, graphic design, and introductory animation using Adobe Creative Suite or equivalent tools.

Incorporate art history, theory, and contemporary movements to enrich learning.

Teach foundational and advanced techniques using various materials (charcoal, watercolor, acrylics, clay).

Foster creativity, experimentation, and critical thinking in an inclusive environment.

Maintain a safe, well-organized art studio and digital media lab.

Stay current with trends in fine arts, digital art, and emerging technologies.
General Teaching Responsibilities

Plan lessons aligned with curriculum expectations.

Support diverse learners using differentiated instructional strategies.

Assess student work, provide timely feedback, and maintain accurate records.

Promote student well-being and positive classroom culture.

Participate in exhibitions, art showcases, and school-wide events.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Fine Arts, Art Education, Design, or a related field.

2–3 years of teaching experience preferred.

Strong portfolio demonstrating both traditional and digital art skills.

Proficiency with Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, etc.).

Fluency in English (C1).

Strong communication and classroom management skills.

Experience in animation, 3D modeling, video editing, or digital photography is an asset.

Knowledge of art history and contemporary art practices.
