The position requires previous experience of work in a senior project construction management role on major large projects, with emphasis on the ability to not only manage work on site, but also taking responsibility for the day to day management of leading pipeline construction contractors and providing overall HSSE, quality and overall performance leadership to the combined company and contractor site teams.

Skills & Experience

  • University Degree in Engineering or Construction Management.
  • Vast experience in Oil and Gas Construction involving:-
  • Language skills :English (fluent) ,Azeri (fluent), Russian (upper intermediate )
  • Experience of Onshore pipelines construction.
  • Familiarity with International Standards which form the basis for project specifications
  • Familiarity with the Production Methods and Welding Technology as used in the Oil and Gas pipeline construction Industry and NDE methods applied to ensure quality standards are met.
  • Experience of planning for a major pipeline construction project.
  • Experience of risk management process for a major construction project.
  • Experience of Task Risk Assessment, HAZID
  • Desired, but not mandatory, experience includes:
  • Experience in managing construction sites in remote, camp environment
  • Experience in the Republic of, Azerbaijan, Turkey and/or Former Soviet Union
  • Experience with project management systems, permit to work system and gate process

Job Descriptions:

  • Overall responsibility for the successful construction for one of the two construction packages in Azerbaijan. Includes accountability for delivering the pipeline while meeting performance targets related to HSS, ES, Cost, Schedule, Quality, Community Relations, and Camp Operations.
  • Assist with the management of the contract(s) - acts as principal interface with contractor management at site
  • Attend the regular meetings in BP
  • Personal commitment to achieve excellence in workplace health and safety. Maintain direct involvement with project personnel and activities and involvement in the management of working systems and practices. Promote safety awareness within all areas of the site/field organisation
  • Provide support for the Define and Execute stages of the Project
  • Work with the engineering group, interface with others in construction, commissioning and operations and contractor's PMT to ensure project requirements are met and delivered on time.
  • Work with relevant parties to ensure Contractor commitment to Project Objectives
  • Participate in development of construction strategies, plans and schedules and collaborate with project services, engineering and PSCM to establish ROS dates for materials and equipment and issue dates for engineering
  • Participate in the development of effective interfaces between Pipelines construction, Facilities construction, the EPMS contractor, the pipeline construction contractor, subcontractors and external stakeholders involved in project activity.
  • Ensure that lessons learned are considered in construction.
  • Challenge and manage the effects of design change and potential scope growth
  • Anticipate and identify adverse trends/events throughout the construction period and work with the relevant parties to avoid them or achieve timely resolution
  • Actively promote Risk management process.
  • Lead weekly site construction meetings with construction contractor and PMT
  • Participate in the Constructability programme and manage the implementation of constructability recommendations and principles in the field..
  • Participate in managing and working with the selected contractor in completion of detailed execution plans, site procedures, and schedules during pre-mobilization planning period in the construction contractor's main office).
  • Manage readiness reviews and "go - no go" assessments and authorization for mobilization.
  • Oversee pre-inspections of contractor's construction equipment and camps prior to approval for mobilisation.
  • Essential Functions:
  • Manage relationships and interface on a daily basis with designers, general contractors, architects and Boston Properties staff on a variety of construction projects.
  • Provide day-to-day management, technical direction, supervision and coordination of construction activities while representing company interest in all assigned projects.
  • Support the Development and Leasing departments through the lease process to secure new and existing clients.
  • Coordinate, review and interpret contract documents and construction sections of the tenant lease.
  • Create and administer “Work Letter” portion of lease agreements.
  • Prepare bid packages, administer bids and review pricing.
  • Prepare construction contracts.
  • Monitor and review RFI’s, field orders, logs and submittal process on projects.
  • Create and assist in monitoring the general contractor’s schedule.
  • Evaluate and negotiate contractor’s pay requests and cost proposals.
  • Review, approve and submit invoices for payment.
  • Coordinate change order process.
  • Participate and take leadership role in construction meetings.
  • Participate in the design process providing budget, schedule and constructibility input.
  • Provide leadership and direction between design and construction phases of each project.
  • Administer punch list and project close-out activities, including acceptance and completion of project.
  • Interface with permit plans reviewers and inspectors and interact with various City inspectors and City officials as required to achieve company objectives.
  • Prepare monthly progress reports for senior management.
  • Prepare cost estimates as needed for all construction-related needs.
  • Ensure the quality standards of the Company are maintained by inspecting work in process on a frequent basis.
  • Report status of contractor compliance with standards to other company employees.
  • Maintaining records set of documents to include drawings and CAD files.
  • Maintain the highest level of tenant relations and departmental standards for quality of work.
  • Represent company interests while providing technical direction to the architect, engineer and contractor on all projects to achieve Boston Properties objectives.
  • Supervise and direct special projects as required.
