VerdePan is seeking General Sales Director to lead the overall sales strategy for our new Central Asian market. The ability to lead people & think strategically will be key success factors for this role. From a strategic perspective, you will be charged with successfully developing & executing a sales strategy aligned around business objectives relating to growth, revenue & profit. From a leadership perspective, you will lead & develop a high performing sales team to ensure we are bringing new sales capabilities to market. A solid understanding around conceptual selling and the sale of services is critical to the success of this role!

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensures sales goals are achieved through the effective placement and motivation of sales and support professionals. Assesses data provided by sales staff, implements sales strategies, identifies business opportunities, and pinpoints problem areas.
  • Develops sales strategies for specific accounts and helps identify target accounts and opportunities from within our portfolio. Plans effectively about how to establish and maintain these account relationships and meet and exceed team sales targets.
  • Establish or monitor specific supply chain-based performance measurement systems
  • Resolve problems concerning transportation, logistics systems, imports or exports, or customer issues.
  • Negotiate transportation rates or services.
  • Plan or implement improvements to internal or external logistics systems or processes.
  • Establishes and builds strong client relationships over time that allow for continuity and ongoing representation and provide significant input to planning company product, price, and service strategies.
  • Ensures sales objectives are met within organization strategies and ensures great collaboration and partnership with internal functions.
  • To work collaboratively with the product teams for successful fulfilment. Build collaborative internal partnerships on product development, marketing, insight, fulfilment and campaign management.
  • Coordinates use of other company resources (e.g., technical, marketing, content) to provide value added services to accounts.
  • Pro-actively develop excellent client management solutions and strategies to add to our customer proposition
  • To be aware of market trends and develop strategies to maximize revenues by identifying and then encouraging the Business Development team to develop new revenue streams from any untapped markets/sectors.
  • To provide a sales environment where there is clarity of purpose, goals and accountability for each team member and where the team excel at demonstrating and understanding the value that our proposition provides to its clients.

  • To be fully responsible for developing of the team capability for skilled negotiation, creative sales proposals and gaining market share from competitors.

Desired Skills and Experience:

  • A minimum of 7+ year’s sales experience essential
  • A proven track record of performance leadership, setting a challenging but supportive environment.
  • A practiced people manager in recruitment, coaching and development of a pipeline of talent.
  • Strategic thinking ability: able to define sales strategy and manage pipeline to exceed targets.
  • Intelligent, authentic, ethical and articulate with the ability to deliver a solution based sales approach.
  • Analytical, financially astute and highly numerate, knowing our bargaining power, value and leverage.
  • A high level of business acumen. Able to connect new business opportunities to clients based on trends in customer spend, budget, market and business drivers.
  • Curious and tenacious: Ability to deconstruct and interpret the relative business sectors at a granular level.
  • Computing skills required specifically in the use of Microsoft Office Suite consisting of Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Strong relationship management skills with the ability to build relationships with key clients and networks internally and externally.
  • Exceptionally motivated and driven to hit KPIs and targets and develop yourself and your team.
  • Product knowledge / experience with Wholesale (Corporate, Commercial, Import/Export business) preferred
  • Critical thinking, analytical, and project management skills
  • Ability to interact and communicate effectively with senior leadership, regulators, and staff at all levels
  • Ability to identify and understand controls in changing environments
  • Strong oral and written communication, including the ability to write clear, concise, non-technical and persuasive risk evaluation reports
  • Approximately 15% travel may be required
