On behalf of Thomas Cook , Ciklum is looking DevOps - Lead Infrastructure Software Engineer to join Kyiv team on full-time basis.

This role gives an opportunity to implement, support and maintain Infrastructure as a Code, automation tools and services. As an Infrastructure Lead Engineer, you will be involved in designing and building large scale Java and Node.js applications that support millions of customers, billions of pounds in revenue and thousands of requests per millisecond. You will be line managing sub-team within the Solutions Delivery team and will be constantly communicating with the Product Stakeholders, direct contact with Leadership team, designing and following Scrum and Kanban processes. You will have an opportunity to advocate Infra and DevOps values and guide Development teams across the minefield.

They can be booked in more than 1,000 travel agencies and via a call centre.

We are a Solutions Delivery team in a leading Europe travel company. Our mission is to drive our development towards high quality continuous delivery process. We believe in DevOps as a philosophy which brings benefits for all and as a team we are inspired to integrate this within the company.

We believe in the mantra to automate and to ensure CI/CD, this is seen in our local approaches where we follow lean practices to delivery high quality Infrastructure as a Code. We use CI/CD, TDD/BDD, Chef, Jenkins jobDSL. Working mainly in the public cloud we are responsible for the channel market deliveries and are always implementing “cool” stuff to support these highly available environments which in turn enable rapid change. We are a development team working across multiple languages we look for our developers to be strong Software Engineers with a Delivery and or Ops background.


  • To integrate closely with Development teams, participate in Scrum processes
  • Manage team’s time and activities against incoming requests coming from different teams
  • To deliver commitments and timely escalate blockers
  • To analyze and improve upon existing systems, services and infrastructure
  • To support application deployments, building new systems and upgrading and patching existing ones including development and testing environments, assisting developers in debugging application issues
  • To participate in the building of tools, services and processes to assist Development
  • To operate the platform within security and privacy guidelines
  • To champion agile values and to drive the teams for continual improvement
  • To be a gospeller of DevOps philosophy, CI/CD values spreading in the company and development teams


  • 5+ years of relevant experience in configuring, maintaining, and troubleshooting Linux-based production systems
  • 5+ years configuration management experience (will be a bonus Chef stack: Berkshelf, ChefSpec, Kitchen, Vagrant, ServerSpec/InSpec, Foodcritic)
  • Continuous Delivery experience (will be a bonus Jenkins + IaaC like jobDSL)
  • Experience with at least one of virtualization/cloud (RackSpace, OpenStack, AWS, VMWare)
  • Development skills (Ruby or Java/Groovy is a must, as a bonus Node.js, Perl, Python, PHP)
  • Software development experience
  • Knowledge of standard services such as Node.js, nginx, Apache, JBoss, MySQL, MongoDB, Tomcat
  • Understanding of protocols/technologies like HTTP, SSL, LDAP, JDBC, Servlet/JSP, SQL, HTML, XML, json
  • Experience and belief in Agile principles such as Lean, Kanban, Scrum, Test Driven
  • Team leadership, mentoring and stakeholder management skills
  • Time management, communication skills


  • Application clustering / load balancing concepts and technologies experience
  • Network Engineering experience
  • Clouds terraforming
