Job Overview

AIST - American International School of Tashkent is seeking a dynamic, passionate, and creative Art Teacher to join our international faculty. The ideal candidate will inspire students to explore their creative potential, develop technical artistic skills, and build a deep appreciation for diverse cultures and visual arts. You will design and deliver an engaging, inquiry-based art curriculum (aligned with Western / International educational frameworks) that fosters critical thinking, self-expression, and innovation in a multicultural studio environment.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

1. Instructional Leadership & Curriculum Delivery

  • Plan & Implement Planning: Design units and daily lesson plans that introduce students to various mediums (painting, drawing, sculpting, ceramics, digital art) and art history.
  • Inquiry-Based Learning: Foster a student-centered classroom environment that promotes curiosity, experimentation, and critical analysis of visual media.
  • Differentiated Instruction: Adapt teaching methods and materials to meet the diverse language fluencies, skill levels, and learning needs of an international student body.
  • Assessment & Feedback: Evaluate student progress regularly using balanced formative and summative criteria, providing constructive feedback that supports artistic growth.
  • Safe Environment: Maintain a safe, organized, clean, and highly functional art studio, ensuring the proper care, storage, and handling of art tools and chemical materials (e.g., glazes, paints, sharp instruments).
  • Inventory Management: Manage the art budget efficiently, tracking supplies and placing timely procurement requests for high-quality resources.
  • Student Well-being: Maintain positive classroom discipline, ensuring student engagement while actively prioritizing student safeguarding and emotional well-being.

2. Community Engagement & Collaboration

  • Art Exhibitions: Organize, curate, and display student artwork across the campus and lead annual school art exhibitions to celebrate student achievement.
  • Cross-Curricular Collaboration: Partner with fellow teachers (such as design, history, or language arts) to create interdisciplinary projects and integrate creative literacy into broader learning units.
  • Extracurricular Activities (CCAs): Actively contribute to the school community by sponsoring after-school art clubs, set-design for theater productions, or community service art projects.
  • Parent Communication: Keep parents updated on student progress through exhibitions, conferences, and digital portals. Job Requirements & Qualifications
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Fine Arts, Art Education, or a related field. A valid teaching license/credential is highly preferred.
  • Experience: Minimum of 2–3 years of successful art teaching experience, ideally within an international, American, or International Baccalaureate (IB) school setting.
  • Skills:
    • High proficiency in English (spoken and written).
    • Mastery over a broad range of artistic techniques and media (traditional studio arts, ceramics, or digital design platforms).
    • Strong aptitude for integrating digital technologies and multimedia tools into classroom workflows.
  • Attributes: Collaborative, open-minded, culturally sensitive, and deeply committed to continuous professional growth.
